I don´t even know where to start haha. I got off the plane last tuesday with about 30 other missionaries, and half of them were going to my mission. We took a bus to the mtc and I got to know everyone going to my district and I liked most of them but there was one kid who I didn't want to have as a companion because we had nothing in common. I like to play sports he liked to read books, I like to be outside, he likes to read books haha. But of course we got assigned to be companions and I had kind of a bad attitude about it for my first 2 days and those were the longest two days ive ever had. I prayed that I could come to love my companion and that day we listened to a talk by elder gong and he was talking about the importance of having a good relationship with your companion. He said to stop focusing on the things you didn't like about your companion and to focus on the things your companion was good at and since then its been great. Ive come to love the things my companion is good at and realized how blessed I was to have him. He's really dorky don't get me wrong but Ive learned to look past it. I thought about how it would be if I had some of the other companions and I think I would be a lot less obedient so I'm glad I have the companion I have. Ever since those two long days the days have flown by its awesome.
The food here is usually good but the food looks very questionable sometimes so Ive been eating like 3 to 5 nutella sandwiches a day and my district is having nutella sandwhich eating contests and so far Im killing everyone I ate a 4 layered nutella sandwich haha. My district is awesome and all of us are going to merida, we do lots of stuff together and we have a lot of fun. Spanish is going really good I've already memorized the first vision, the missionary objective, the baptismal interview questions and moroni, 3 and 4 in spanish. I can bear a decent testimony in spanish. These members from all around Mexico city come into the mtc and we get to talk to them in spanish and my companion is really bad at spanish haha, so I do all the talking and I was able to hold a pretty solid conversation with them for about 5 to 10 minutes all by myself without having to think much about it, it was awesome. Every day I pray for the gift of tongues and I can testify that it works because before I got out here I couldn't memorize anything in spanish to save my life. Last thing cause I don't want this to be an annoying super long email but I probably shouldn't tell you this but I think its funny everynight when we go to bed we hear gunshots haha its crazy out hear in mexico city haha. I'm going to get back on around 3 my time I think 2 your time if anyone wants to email.
