Super awesome week (Andy Reid and Elder Holland)
This might be a little long and crazy but it was awesome hopefully worth the read. We also did a ton of service this week but I'll have to mention that another time!
This week was INSANE!!!!!!!!! Crazy story so Tuesday we had a live zoom call with Andy Ried!!!! For all of you that probably don't know who he is, he is the kansas city chiefs head coach, andddd they just won THE SUPER BOWL!!!!! He just gave us a super sweet pump up devotional and how we need to be tough just like his football team! He was hyping us up a ton and sharing his conversion story because he is a member of the church #ChurchFamilyandFootball , he also shared some great companionship and leadership qualities and said that he would take a player that maybe isn't the best athlete that works hard rather than an athlete that doesn't work hard and the same applies for us missionaries!! So you might think that was awesome but then yesterday we got to have a zoom call with 10 times cooler!! (Your probably thinking how is that possible the prophet? Nope but the next best ish haha) ELDER HOLLAND!!!!
Holy crap talking with Elder Holland was such a great experience he shared with us what we as missionaries need to do in times like these and he had some great insight! Some of his great quotes and scriptures were: "Change happens when we're taught by difficulty and sometimes it's the only way we can learn such great things," "The issue isn't the event (Corona virus) or what is the circumstances are, the issue is you, we need to learn how to deal with the things thrown at us. (Roll with the punches)" (my mother's personal favorite for all you missionaries switching missions) "where you ate caked to serve doesn't matter the thing that does matter is that you ate CALLED TO SERVE!" I could go on and on but it was great and pumped me up a ton! Just an amazing scripture: D&C 58:3 Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter, and the glory which shall follow after much tribulation. We have been making tons of phone calls and we are actually having quite a bit of success, looking for some new people to add to the teaching pool! Yesterday we were just on a spiritual high 2 crazy quick stories. We had a lesson with a member and we felt like we should teach about the atonement so we did and she said she prayed that morning for "a better understanding of the atonement" as she was crying!!! Also right after we decided we wanted to teach about the family in the next member lesson and they told us they were having a baby!!! Pretty cool spiritual experiences, I'm loving it here!!!
Hopefully I get some pictures on here love you all:) -Elder Jones
